The full tooth design makes it particularly useful when a clean, consistent finish is required across larger areas of properly prepared coat. Due to the Pekingese’s dense double coat, thorough brushing and combing before clipping are important to ensure the blade can move smoothly through the hair.

The #5 Skip Tooth blade also leaves approximately 6.4mm of coat but features wider-spaced teeth designed to feed thicker, longer or less prepared coat through the blade more effectively. This makes it particularly useful for initial clipping and reducing bulk in suitable areas of the coat before refining the finish with the #5F blade. Extra care should be taken when using skip tooth blades around loose skin, folds and sensitive areas, and they should not be used to force through tightly matted coat.
