The #10F blade is ideal for close clipping and precision work around the feet, paw pads and sanitary areas, helping to achieve a clean, hygienic finish.

The Pekingese has a long, thick double coat, consisting of a straight outer coat and dense, soft undercoat, with abundant feathering around the ears, chest, legs and tail. Regular brushing and combing are essential to remove loose hair, prevent matting and keep the coat healthy. Particular attention should be paid to the ears, chest, underside, armpits, legs and tail, where knots and tangles can easily develop.

Due to their low-to-the-ground build and heavy coat, Pekingese can collect dirt, moisture and debris during everyday activities. Routine grooming should include keeping the paw pads tidy, trimming excess hair around the feet and sanitary areas, checking the ears and gently cleaning the facial folds. As a flat-faced breed, Pekingese can be sensitive to heat, so grooming should take place in a cool, comfortable environment.

For Pekingese maintaining their traditional long, flowing coat, regular brushing, undercoat removal and selective trimming are generally preferable to full-body clipping. However, for pet dogs where practicality and ease of maintenance are the priority, shorter trims may sometimes be appropriate, particularly for older dogs or coats that have become difficult to manage. As the Pekingese has a dense double coat, full-body clipping should be carefully considered because it can affect natural coat regrowth.

The #5F blade provides a smooth, even finish while leaving approximately 6.4mm of coat, making it suitable for practical pet trims where a shorter coat is appropriate. The #5 Skip Tooth blade (6.4mm) features wider tooth spacing to help work through longer, thicker areas of prepared coat, making it useful for initial coat removal before finishing with the #5F blade. Extra care should be taken when using skip-tooth blades around loose skin, folds and sensitive areas.

For the best clipping results, the coat should be clean, completely dry and thoroughly brushed or combed before clipping. Loose undercoat, knots and tangles should be carefully removed beforehand, particularly around the ears, chest, underside, armpits and legs.
