This fun loving little terrier with its distinctive white coat was originally used to control vermin, including foxes and hares.
An energetic and loyal dog, the West Highland Terrier has become a popular choice with families and active seniors. The Westie has a thick double coat that the can be course or fine, hard or soft, depending on whether it has been hand stripped or clipped.
To keep the coat in good condition, the West Highland Terrier needs regular grooming and this should be done several times a week by brushing the coat with a slicker brush or metal grooming comb.
