HD Roamer
Scenario 1, The clippers do not turn on:
Problem: With either battery inserted into the handset, the
clipper does not turn on.
Solution: The first step in troubleshooting this issue is to
determine if there is a fault with either the batteries or the charger.
Charger – The charger has an LED indicator to inform the
user of both the battery and charger status.
LED Sequence:
Once both the batteries and charger have been ruled out, the
fault lies within the handset. Inspect the air vents over the body of the
clipper for oil and moisture. Incorrect oiling methods can cause excessive oil
to build up around the motor causing it to fail. This can either be repaired at
home by viewing our spare parts section or can be sent into our workshop to be
repaired by one of our technicians.
Scenario 2, The clippers turn on, but the blades don’t move.
Problem: The clippers turn on and the motor is working but
the blades are not moving.
Solution: This is likely due to a sheared tooth on the drive
cog. This occurs when either the blades have been tensioned too tight, or there
is dirt / debris trapped between the teeth of the cutter and comb.
To repair this problem, a new drive cog needs to be
installed onto the head of the clipper. This can either be purchased from our
spare parts section and installed at home or you may send in your clippers to
our workshop to be repaired by one of our technicians.
To install the new drive cog, remove the two black head
screws which mount it to the body. The head should then be free from the body
and ready to inspect. You should notice a worn tooth on the drive cog which reaffirms
the initial diagnosis. To replace this part, simply remove the existing
retaining clip from the drive shaft and remove the worn cog. Insert the new
drive cog in the same orientation as the original came off and replace the
retaining clip. Install the head back onto the body of the clipper and test.
Scenario 3, The clipper isn’t cutting
Problem: Whilst clipping, you have noticed that the blades
are no longer cutting effectively or “chewing” the hair as you attempt to clip.
Solution: This issue is more than likely due to your blades
being blunt or tensioned incorrectly. The first step is to ensure the tension
is set correctly. Start by tightening the tension nut all the way not and make
a note of which direction the arrow is pointing on top. Then unscrew the
tension dial back 3 full turns. This should be a good starting tension which
can be further fine-tuned.
If the blades still don’t cut after tensioning, it is highly
likely the blades themselves are blunt. Blades can either be resharpened or
alternatively you can purchase another set.
Scenario 4, The blades become hot.
Problem: Whilst clipping, you notice that the blades get
hot.
Solution: Overheating blades is either due to inadequate
lubrication, blunt blades, incorrect tension, or a build of dirt/debris between
the comb and cutter. Ensure the blades are oiled every 3-5 minutes to keep them
cool and sharper for longer. Start by tightening the tension nut all the way
not and make a note of which direction the arrow is pointing on top. Then
unscrew the tension dial back 3 full turns. This should be a good starting
tension which can be further fine-tuned. If the blades are lacking in
performance and getting too hot, this is a common sign of blunt blades and
means they require sharpening or a new set.

Hunter
Scenario 1, The clipper keeps blowing fuses:
Problem: Every time I put a new fuse in the clipper they go
to switch on and the fuse blows?
Solution: Unplug the clipper from the wall and inspect the
power cable for damage and crushed areas where the horse may have stood on the
cable.
To repair this problem the clipper requires a new power
cable this will need to be carried out by a qualified technician as the cable
is soldered into the PCB which requires the clipper being completely taken
apart.
Scenario 2, The clipper works intermittently when moving it
in certain positions:
Problem: The clipper will work intermittently, the power
with increase and decrease when moving the handset in different positions
whilst clipping.
Solution: Whilst the machine is switched on wiggle the power
cable at the base of the handset in certain positions if the clipper speeds up
or slows downs and starts and stops working this is a sign the cable has been
stretched.
To repair this problem the clipper requires the power cable
to be re soldered to the PCB which is located inside the clipper and would need
to be carried out by a qualified technician.
Scenario 3, The clipper is getting hot
Problem: The clipper is getting hot after a short period of
time?
Solution: Check the air filters either side of the handset
are clean and free of dirt and hair? Take of the blades and make sure there
isn’t excessive hair jammed in the clipper head? Are your blades tensioned to
the correct manufactured guidelines? Are you oiling the blades every 5 minutes?
Scenario 4, when clipping its leaving lines
Problem: The clipper is leaving lines whilst clipping
Solution: Remove the blades and check the internals of the
clipper head, is there 2 metal shins fitted where the small cutter fits? Is the
black rubber grommet located in the centre of the clipper head where the large
comb sits? When locating the comb onto the locating lugs of the clipper head is
there any play causing the comb to wobble?
Most of these parts are wearable and serviceable parts which
can be replaced by a qualified technician, if the lugs are worn on the clipper
head it will require a new head.
Scenario 5, Not clipping the hair
Problem: The blades are chewing through the hair and not
leaving a good finish
Solution: Remove the blades and make sure blades are clean
and free of grease, re-assemble blades and set the blades to the correct
tension, if the blades are still not cutting then they may require re
sharpening.
Blade sharpening is a required skill and should be carried
out by a qualified person, if you have recently sent your blades in to be
sharpened and they aren’t clipping then they may have been sharpened
incorrectly. We recommend a company called shearease.
Scenario 6, Clipper is constantly on and has to be switched
of at the wall
Problem: When operating the switch, the clipper doesn’t
switch on or off so has to be switched on and off from the wall p
Solution: It will be hair build up under the switch to resolve
this there is a small screw in the centre of the black switch, if you undo this
screw lift of the switch and clean out the hair build up. Replace the switch
and screw in the small screw.
This repair can be resolved by anybody and the only tool
required is a small Philips screw driver.
